AVG 2013 Driver installation failed [Solved]

Problems installing AVG 2013 upgrade [Solved].  Trying to install AVG 2013 and many people having the same issue.  Download and go through the install, almost all the way through until finally gets near the end and gives an error “Driver Installation Failed.  Error code 0xC0070643.   MSI action failed.  Error code 0xE0010057”

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t work, registry cleaners don’t help.  If you’ve gotten a similar error trying to upgrade AVG to 2013, here’s the simple solution.  Go to http://www.avg.com/ca-en/utilities and download the appropriate uninstaller removal tool.  The exact links are here for you as well as of today.

AVG Removal tool for 64 bit Windows

You will need to reboot and then you may be prompted to continue removing left over traces of AVG in the system automatically.  Then, when your computer has completely finished rebooting and clearing the remaining AVG leftovers, you can then successfully download and reinstall AVG 2013.

  • I am having difficulty with AVG 2013
    I have 4 HP Pavilions running Windows 7 64bit
AVG works with all BUT one Install seems to work until I attempt to use the AVG then I get Computer Driver not found Anti-Rootkit kernel-mode driver not found.
I have done the uninstall you describe as well as AVG’s boot from a flash drive

    Thank you

  • Thanks for thee article, unfortunately it did not work for me, using Win7.

  • Unfortunately, this didn’t work either. Rebooted 3 times having first run the removal kit.
Pity but thanks for the effort anyway.
